An integrative counsellor believes there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help a client in all situations. Instead, they take into account you as an individual and your circumstances, and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems.

Trauma counselling is essentially the healing process which assists you to deal with symptoms that you are stuck with after a traumatic event. In general, there are three phases of trauma treatment: Safety & Stabilisation, Processing Trauma and Integration & Connecting with others.

Child therapy (also called child counselling) is similar to therapy and counselling for: it offers a safe space and an empathetic ear while providing tools to bring about change in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Just like adult clients, child clients receive emotional and goal support in their sessions.

Rehabilitation counselling is an allied health profession that assists people experiencing injuries, disabilities, health conditions and social disadvantages to achieve their personal, educational and vocational goals.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is common in addiction counselling as it helps individuals to identify problematic behaviours and change them into positives. CBT also helps to address any underlying problems that often co-occur with an addiction.

Relationship counseling in all forms seeks to help couples and individuals address issues in their relationships. It is also about understanding each individual and how they function; increased self-awareness of behavior and actions leads to an enhanced understanding of how they might work in a relationship.

When one partner in a relationship harms the other to obtain or maintain power and control over them, regardless of whether they are married or unmarried, living together or apart, that is domestic violence. The ‘harm’ can take a variety of forms, whether it be from verbal abuse like shouting, emotional abuse like manipulation, control and/or humiliation, physical abuse like hitting and/or punching, and/or sexual abuse like rape and/or inappropriate touching of either the woman or her children.

Marriage counselling is a type of joint counseling in which a couple seeks help, typically due to relationship issues. It differs from other types of therapy because there are two married individuals involved in each session.

Cognitive counselling, primarily known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is a structured talk therapy that helps you identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that cause problems, focusing on the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions to improve coping and well-focusing on the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions to improve coping and well-being and cope with challenges like depression, anxiety, and stress.
